Our mission is to launch breakthrough education solutions, while building a dynamic, community infrastructure required to support the scale of effective innovations. To realize this mission, LEANLAB Education facilitates research pilots between schools (pilot-site partners) and education startups (Fellows in the K12 Fellowship Program) to engage in the co-design process, actively testing solutions in collaboration with innovators, who collaboratively work toward creating new solutions that accelerate student outcomes.





DESCRIPTION

LEANLAB Education is seeking a full-time Manager, Impact and Research to elevate LEANLAB’s research methods, build superior impact and data tracking systems, and to oversee the implementation of all school pilot research programs. This person thrives on data-based decision-making, and believes in a world where all tools utilized by schools are evidence-based and working towards improved student outcomes.

Mission: Develop and implement a process that captures educator and student feedback to inform the development of new innovations, and measures their impact in real classrooms. Develop evaluation criteria and methods to measure the impact of LEANLAB Education as an organization.

In the first 12 months, this position will:

  • Increase or strengthen knowledge in Design Based Implementation Research, Design Based Research, Rapid Cycle Evaluation and Improvement Science methods.
  • Develop an evaluation process to capture end-user feedback, use it to inform innovations’ developments, and measure the impact of the innovation over a 6-month period, or “mini-study.”
  • Facilitate and publish at last 6 mini-studies across 6 pilot school sites with 6 innovations over a 6 month period.
  • Document and further refine the LEANLAB co-design processes, and develop structures and systems that can spread the impact of proven solutions more efficiently across schools with similar contexts.
  • Make the research and development process cheaper, more efficient, and more inclusive of school community voice.
  • Facilitate additional research partnerships with R1 universities interested in rapid-cycle evaluation, design based implementation research, design based research and education technology.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive dashboard for impact and success metrics for LEANLAB and the fellows who participate in the LEANLAB program.
  • Review and strengthen internal LEANLAB evaluation metrics, and create systems to track and maintain key LEANLAB data.
  • Develop impact reports to key stakeholders, funders, and LEANLAB’s board of directors.
  • Manage a team of research assistants, as needed to support with methods, data collection and analysis.


OUTCOMES
This position is driven by outcomes, working tirelessly to meet the following goals within the first 12 months of this position:

Outcome 1 Design and Execute a world-class, rapid-cycle process for piloted education innovations.

  • Within first 90 days, internalize the existing and prior Fellowship research workbook and corresponding workbook tools for the 2019 K12 Fellowship.
  • Within the first 180 days, execute the second iteration of the K12 Fellowship pilot research program.

Outcome 2 Develop internal evaluation metrics, tools, and processes to effectively measure, quantify, and report the impact of LEANLAB programs.

Outcome 3 Be a successful brand ambassador for our organization, securing important regional and national research partnerships and elevate LEANLAB’s brand among education research communities

Relevant Experience

  • At least 3 years of proven experience as a data analyst, data scientist, and/or researcher in a related field
  • An advanced degree in Data Science, Education, Evaluation, Statistics,, Neuroscience, Learning Science or a related field; MS or PhD preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of research methods, procedures, techniques, and terminology used in the more complex aspects of research projects
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate complex data with attention to detail and accuracy
