DESCRIPTION

LEANLAB Education is seeking a full-time Manager, Innovation Programs to design and execute our innovation programs. This person is an exceptional relationship builder and master connector, enthusiastic about innovation and entrepreneurship, who holds an unwavering commitment to finding breakthrough innovations that support all children. This Program Manager will manage the K12 Fellowship program for emerging education entrepreneurs; this program is one-of-a-kind, supporting education entrepreneurs as they develop and pilot new solutions in complete partnerships with schools they seek to serve.

Mission
Build world-class entrepreneurship development program, accelerating the validation and growth of game changing education innovations built authentically with the communities they seek to serve.

In the first 12 months, this position will:

  • Identify and recruit high-potential education entrepreneurs creating solutions aligned to the needs of LEANLAB Education’s pilot school network. Recruit world-class, education entrepreneurs from across the United States to work in partnership with identified pilot-school sites. Leverage existing partnerships with other education accelerators and partner organizations to source candidates for our education entrepreneurship fellowship program (K12 Fellowship).

  • Design and lead a world-class, 6-month, education entrepreneurship program in partnership with the Interim, Managing Director. Lead a team of innovation program consultants to launch successful innovations developed in response to community needs. Adapt and refine the prior year’s curriculum based on strategic priorities of the organization. Coordinate the curriculum, speakers, mentors, and logistics for fellowship program.

  • Create a “Scale Up” Program, supporting the spread of high-performing K12 fellows across partner schools. Develop a playbook of how evidenced-based companies can achieve scale, and design a program and process that helps proven LEANLAB alum spread throughout our partner school network and beyond.

This position is driven by outcomes, working tirelessly to meet the following goals within the first 12 months of this position:

Outcome 1
Recruit and matriculate 6-10 high-performing education entrepreneurs into the K12 Fellowship program to build, validate and grow solutions aligned with our pilot school communities’ needs.

Design and execute a world-class K12 Fellowship Process

Outcome 3
Design and Coordinate a “Scale Up” Process for Qualifying High-Potential Education Fellows

Outcome 4
Be a successful brand ambassador for our organization, securing important local and national partnerships.

+ Manager, Collaborative Partnerships

OVERVIEW

The invention of visionary, new solutions for public education. Deep and productive partnerships with school communities—students, educators and administrators. A process that elevates community voices in the co-creation of new solutions and the measurement of their effectiveness.

Our mission, then, is to launch breakthrough education solutions, while building a dynamic, community infrastructure required to support the scale of these effective innovations.

Unfortunately, the fragmented landscape of our local education system—defined by 15 separate school districts and more than 20 independent charter school systems, serving students within Kansas City, Missouri—has created a significant barrier to sharing effective solutions and processes that demonstrate promise of improving student outcomes. In addition to this fragmentation, Just one in three of our public school students reads on grade level, and inequities are most pronounced for children of color. Last year’s achievement statistics belied a grave injustice: while nearly 60% of white students scored proficient in English Language Arts in 2017, just 30% of the district’s African-American students and 40% of Latino students did.

Following, there is an urgent need to create a more collaborative and efficient system across the Kansas City education landscape for all of our students to experience high-quality learning outcomes.







DESCRIPTION

The Manager of Collaborative Partnerships is driven by outcomes, working tirelessly to meet the following goals within the first 12 months:


Goal
Write the playbook of how community informs education innovations; build a comprehensive network of forward thinking schools, and a system of supports to empower school communities to participate in the design, evaluation, and growth/spread of effective education innovations.


Outcome 1
Redesign LEANLAB Education community programs so that they:

  • Actively include feedback and engagement from impacted school community members throughout the entire innovation process (problem identification, prototyping, user testing, market entry/commercialization and scale).
  • Create and support a network of pilot schools that represent the greater landscape of the American school system, with a focus on schools experiencing inequitable outcomes along lines of race and income level.
  • Build a structured network of senior level school district leaders who can effectively and efficiently share and grow (scale) evidence-based innovations across individual classrooms, school systems, and state lines so that they can impact as many students as possible.
  • Coordinate a team of research consultants to gather evidence of the impact of emerging solutions.
  • Create a professional development program to train the pilot network schools and lead end users on the research and innovation process and education innovation frameworks.


Outcome 2
Design processes and structures that develop the creation of breakthrough education solutions that are created in partnership with the communities they serve.


Outcome 3
Create a process so that community programs are integrated within the K12 fellowship structure, allowing community voice to effectively scale up evidence based innovations.
