On the second Thursday of every month, we convene an engaged community of educators, parents, and local leaders to discuss the timely issues confronting the education sector. Each event is facilitated by a local community member who is approaching the problem in an innovative way. Don't expect to sit back and listen to a panel of experts. When you attend a LEANLAB meetup, we'll put you and your experience to work.
Typical Meetup Agenda:
5:30–6:00: Sign-in, food/drink, networking
6:00–6:15: Introductions, speakers pose their questions
6:15–7:00: Unconference/Brainstorming Session
7:00–7:30: Closing comments, continued networking
Every quarter, LEANLAB holds weekend workshops where teachers, educators, students, parents, community leaders, and early-stage entrepreneurs learn about human-centered design, design-thinking, lean methodologies, and entrepreneurship!
Innovation Workshops are a great opportunity for aspiring education entrepreneurs to hone their skills in preparation for their application to the LEANLAB K12 Fellowship.
LaunchED Day is a celebration at the culmination of the K12 Fellowship that brings together the school, industry, and education entrepreneur communities. We celebrate the current class of fellows and award $60,000 in grants for the ventures to continue their work in Kansas City schools. The teams from the cohort showcase their innovations to the community that supported them throughout the rigorous 3-month program.
