OVERVIEW
Leanlab Education envisions a world where all children have access to effective and excellent educational opportunities.
We believe the following components are necessary to realize this vision:
Creating deep and trusting partnerships between technology developers and school/learner communities (students, educators, and administrators).
Codesigning emerging technologies with school/learner communities.
Evaluating the effectiveness of emerging technologies in partnership with school/learner communities.
Theory of Change
Leanlab Education believes that we can accelerate educational outcomes for all students when those most impacted by education issues—the students, educators, parents, and administrative leaders—inform the creation of new educational technologies and solutions. We believe their insights and expertise will unlock breakthrough solutions in teaching and learning.
Mission
Our mission is to launch breakthrough education solutions that have national impact. To realize this mission, Leanlab Education specializes in Codesign Product Research–our unique blend of participatory/user experience research. We are a third-party research organization that works with edtech companies as clients and pairs them with educators or schools to inform the development and evaluation of their products.
Structure and Principles
We are a flat organization and operate day-to-day using a "team of teams" approach. Team members are high-performing subject matter experts and are trusted with execution of strategy. We place importance on impact and responsibility, not on job titles. Internal titles follow function/description of role, rather than hierarchy. Each team member makes their own plans and executes on them with a high degree of independence and autonomy. Because of this, each employee is ultimately accountable for the outcomes of the areas she or he owns.
