Lynne Harden

A geologist by training, Lynne has spent over a decade contributing to the field of science, STEM education, and education technology research. She brings to the Leanlab team her experience in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research and data analysis.

As an inclusive design researcher with PhET Interactive Simulations, a popular free online science and math simulation tool used by teachers and students around the world, Lynne conducted codesign research projects with students with disabilities to improve the accessibility of PhET simulations (Harden & Moore, 2019; Tomlinson et al., 2019; Winters et al., 2020).

As an Education & Outreach team member with the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder, Lynne served as the Principal Investigator on a grant-funded codesign research project with middle and high school science teachers exploring the design and implementation of a novel framework for integrating authentic datasets into science curricula.

Most recently Lynne built and led the User Research Team at Edpuzzle, a video-based educational technology tool.

Lynne holds a B.S. degree in Geological and Marine Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

In her free time, Lynne enjoys climbing, running, and generally spending time outside.
